The Spanish Connection

John Treacy from the San Marcos Project will be hosting prominent Spanish print journalist Carmelo Jorda Jorda, during his upcoming trip to West Clare’s Armada sites. Carmelo is writing a series of articles on ‘Interesting Places in Ireland’ for La Liberdad, once of Spain’s best known newspapers with a well subscribed online base (4 million per month). John and Carmelo will be visiting Armada sites in Carrigaholt, Doonbeg, Quilty, Spanish Point, Lahinch, Liscannor, The Cliffs of Moher and Doolin on 22-23 April. This will be an excellent opportunity to showcase Co. Clare as a destination for Armada heritage tourism. It will give international exposure to the search for San Marcos as well as the wider communities with a connection to the Armada. Carmelo’s trip is part of a Failte Ireland initiative to develop this Armada connection in Co. Clare
